On March 25, Prof. FANG Xin, vice secretary of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Party Leader Group, made a special inspection to South China Botanical Garden (SCBG), accompanied by Mr. LI Hefeng, director of Bureau of Personnel and Education CAS, Ms. LIU Guiju, deputy director of Bureau of High-Tech Research and Development CAS, Dr. CHEN Yong, deputy secretary-general of People's Government of Guangdong Province and president of Guangzhou Branch of CAS, and Dr. GUO Jun, secretary of Party Leader Group of Guangzhou Branch of CAS. Dr. HUANG Hongwen, director of SCBG, and Dr. REN Hai, Secretary of Party Committee of SCBG, and other leaders warmly greeted the visiting group.

In the meeting, Prof. Huang had a progress report on SCBG, including development history, strategy orientation and mission, scientific research, plant conservation and introduction, popular science, platform construction, and resource development and utilization in SCBG. He introduced in detail about cooperation and planning between CAS headquarters and local authorities, and revolution on management system. He also emphasized the confidence in fighting corruption and building a clean botanical garden and leadership of SCBG.

After the meeting, Prof. Fang visited the construction of SCBG, especially the Conservatory-Greenhouses, which include Tropical Rainforest Conservatory, Desert Plant Conservatory, Alpine & Polar Plants Conservatory, Rare and Exotic Plant Conservatory, and Plant Aquarium. She high praised the construction achievement of the Conservatory-Greenhouses. She pointed out that SCBG has changed greatly in the last few years, and achieved a great leap in the development of basic facilities, garden landscape and scientific connotation. Therefore she hoped sincerely that SCBG will achieve a new great-leap-forward in the coming years, and make a great contribution to the "2020 Innovation Target".
