On November 16, Dr. HUANG Changzhi, from California Department of Fish and Game, USA visited South China Botanical Garden (SCBG) under the invitation of Prof. REN Hai, the principal investigator of Vegetation and Landscape Ecology Research Group of SCBG.

During the visit, Dr. Huang presented a lecture entitled "If I were a graduate student again, how should I write papers in English?". About 80 researchers and graduate students of SCBG attended the seminar. Based on the rich experience engaging in scientific works, Dr. Huang systematically introduced the strategies for effective writing in English and the self-editing for the graduate students in US University. Later, Prof. SHEN Weijun, a former member in the National Natural Science Foundation of China, briefly introduced the relevant experiences and important considerations in applying the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

This international exchange activity, organized and sponsored by the Educational Department of SCBG, Botanical Society of Guangdong, and Youth Committee of China Society of Ecology, produced the expected results.
