On 29 August, a delegation headed by SU Xizhi, Chairman of the North District Flower, Bird, Insect & Fish Show (NDFBIFS) of Hong Kong made a visit to the South China Botanical Garden (SCBG). Prof. REN Hai, Deputy Director of SCBG, Prof. LIANG Chengye, Prof. LIN Yourun, and some staff warmly received the delegation’s visit.
REN first introduced SCBG to the guests, particularly the change after the co-construction by Guangdong Province, Guangzhou City, and CAS. On behalf of NDFBIFS, SU thanked SCBG for the warm reception. And then he invited SCBG to take part in the North District Flower, Bird, Insect & Fish Show. Subsequently the two sides mutually donated the presents and took photo for remembrance.
After discussion, the delegation visited some special gardens in SCBG, including Orchid Garden, Fern and Shade Plant Garden, Medicinal Plant Garden, and Cycad Garden. All the guests gave a high appraisal of the garden landscape and the rare plant resources of SCBG.
Established in 1970s, NDFBIFS is hosted by the North District Office, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, other Government departments and social organizations. It is the 31st show in 2007. The goal of NDFBIFS is not only to attract the public to see the beautiful flower, bird, insect and fish, but to let the public realize the importance of eco-environmental protection and resource protection.
